VexConnect
Free mesh internet from the phones already in your pocket.
Every phone sold in the last decade has a radio that can talk directly to other phones โ no tower, no ISP, no monthly bill. VexConnect turns that radio on.
It's a mesh network. Your phone relays messages to nearby phones, which relay to the next, and the next. A message can travel kilometres without ever touching the internet. No one controls it because no one owns it.
Why This Matters for Sovereign Communities
You already run your own governance. Your own courts. Your own law. But your communications still run through Telstra. Your records sit on someone else's server. Your identity is issued by a government you didn't consent to.
VexConnect is the first piece of infrastructure you actually own.
Current Infrastructure
- Telstra/Optus controls your signal
- $50โ80/month per person
- Tower goes down = no comms
- All traffic logged and accessible
- Service can be cut remotely
- Coverage decided by profitability
VexConnect Mesh
- Phones talk directly to phones
- $0 per month, forever
- No single point of failure
- End-to-end encrypted, no logs
- Cannot be shut down remotely
- Coverage = where your people are

Range per hop: ~100m (BLE)
Max hops: 7
Total reach: ~700m urban, several km open land
Add a $15 Pi node with LoRa:

Now you've connected two communities.
- Install the app. One tap. No account, no email, no phone number. The app generates a cryptographic identity on your device โ it never leaves your phone.
- Walk around. Your phone automatically discovers other VexConnect phones nearby using Bluetooth Low Energy. No pairing needed.
- Send a message. It hops from phone to phone until it reaches the recipient. Every relay is encrypted. No phone in the chain can read the message โ they just pass it along.
- Add range with nodes. A $15 Raspberry Pi with a LoRa radio extends the mesh 10โ15 kilometres. Solar powered. No internet needed. Plant one on a hill and two communities are connected permanently.
The Numbers
$0
Monthly cost per phone. The radio is already in your pocket.
$15
Per Pi node. Solar powered. Extends range 10โ15km via LoRa.
7
Maximum hops per message. Each phone extends the chain.
0
Logs kept. No metadata, no sender ID, no routing history.
What It Costs to Build
| Item | Unit Cost | Qty | Total |
| Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W | $15 | 10 | $150 |
| LoRa radio module (SX1276) | $10 | 10 | $100 |
| Solar panel + battery pack | $25 | 10 | $250 |
| Weatherproof enclosure | $8 | 10 | $80 |
| SD cards (32GB) | $8 | 10 | $80 |
| Phone app development | $0 | โ | $0 |
| Total for 10-node network | $660 |
10 nodes covers roughly 150kmยฒ of mesh. That's enough for two communities and everything between them. The phones in people's pockets fill in the gaps for free.
What Can't Be Done to It
It can't be shut down. There's no server to seize, no company to subpoena. The mesh is the phones. To kill it, you'd need to confiscate every phone in the community.
It can't be surveilled. Messages are encrypted end-to-end. Relay phones can't read what they're passing. There are no logs, no metadata, no sender addresses in the packets.
It can't be censored. Every phone relays every packet. There's no way to block specific messages without blocking all of them.
It can't be taken away. The software is open source. The protocol is public. Even if every developer disappeared tomorrow, the code exists and the mesh keeps running.
What's Live Today
The protocol is specified and published. The website is live. The code is open source.
Next Steps for a Community Pilot
- Pick two locations โ two buildings, two camps, two meeting places that need to talk to each other.
- Plant two Pi nodes โ one at each location, solar powered, elevated. This creates the backbone.
- Install the app on 5โ10 phones โ these fill the gaps between nodes and extend the mesh everywhere people walk.
- Send the first message โ a message that travels on your land, through your phones, encrypted by your keys, logged by nobody.
