VexID
Identity that belongs to you, vouched by your people.
Your government ID says who they think you are. VexID says who your community knows you are.
It works like identity has always worked in communities — someone who knows you says "I know this person." That vouch is recorded permanently, cryptographically, and can never be edited or revoked. No bureaucrat, no database, no card that expires.
Why This Matters
Sovereign communities already have their own governance, their own courts, their own law. But when it comes to identity, you're still using the coloniser's system — driver's licences, Medicare cards, birth certificates issued by institutions that didn't ask your permission to exist.
VexID isn't a replacement for those documents. It's a parallel system. Identity on your terms, using your existing trust networks.

- Register. You create an identity — a name, a cryptographic key pair. No email, no phone number, no government ID required. This happens on your device.
- Get vouched. Someone who already has standing in the community vouches for you. Their identity permanently changes — it now records that they vouched for you. They can't undo it. This means people don't vouch casually.
- Contribute. As you participate — vouch for others, contribute to the community — your reputation grows. Not a score. Not gamification. A record of what you've done, verified by the people who saw you do it.
This is how identity has always worked in communities. Elders know who people are. Trust is earned through relationship. VexID just makes that system digital, permanent, and portable — so it works beyond line of sight, across distances, over the mesh.
For Community Governance
A community running its own court needs to know who's standing before it. Currently that means government ID — which means you're borrowing their system for your governance.
With VexID:
- Community members register with their chosen name and are vouched by elders. Their identity exists within the community's trust network.
- Court proceedings reference VexID — participants are identified by community vouching, not state-issued documents.
- Decisions are recorded against VexID identities — creating a permanent, tamper-proof record of community law that doesn't depend on any external system.
- Works on the mesh — VexID runs over VexConnect. No internet required. Identity verification happens phone-to-phone.

What It Doesn't Do
It doesn't replace government ID — you'll still need a licence to drive and a passport to fly. VexID is parallel infrastructure for communities that need identity on their own terms.
It doesn't score people — there's no social credit, no karma, no ranking. Reputation is the accumulated record of who you've vouched for and who's vouched for you. That's it.
It doesn't require internet — VexID works over the VexConnect mesh. Two phones in range can verify identity directly.
